PANLOT WARTA

A Trust - CENTRE FOR MANAGEMENT OF LOCAL RESOURCES (CMLR) was formed in 1993 for Sustainable Development through appropriate management of land and water resources. Well-known personalities were part of this trust, who pioneered various social movements in Maharashtra state. Main aim of the CMLR was to work in spreading message of Watershed Development amongst the grass root villagers, and other stakeholders. For few years, CMLR conferred an award to a personality for his/her contribution in the field of Watershed Development on 15 February (Watershed Day) every year.

PANLOT WARTA : Watershed Development plays a major role in upliftment of Rural India. With a collaboration of another trust – Gramayan, a monthly magazine on Watershed Development was started from February 1996 for awareness. The magazine reached farmers, villagers, social workers, social organisations, government organisations & officials, researchers, political leaders, and many others. PANLOT WARTA was the first magazine in Marathi on Watershed Development.
